Sareee Talks 15th Anniversary, Her Next Chapter, Takumi Iroha, Her Career | Interview

Sareee joins Scott for another exclusive interview talking what's next!

Sareee continues to leave her mark on the Joshi and professional wrestling worlds.

Just one week after her 15th Anniversary event, Sareee has managed to make even more waves. After a complete success that included 2,693 fans in attendance for her production Sareee-ISM Chapter X that celebrated her career, she’s managed to also steal the show in TJPW — teaming with Takumi Iroha against Miyu Yamashita and Arisu Endo at Grand Princess ’26. Her last two matches have showcased why she’s among the very best wrestlers in the world, and further proved why the next chapter is one all fans should follow.

In an interview with Tokyo Sports, Sareee mentioned that her career has now entered Chapter 4, and the goal is to run the Nippon Budokan for her 20th Anniversary. Lofty goals from “The Sun Goddess,” but one that should be believed in.

With that being said, Scott E. had a chance to once again interview Sareee following her anniversary event, asking her about the show as a whole, the successful main event, her upcoming battle with Takumi Iroha, what to expect next, and what each chapter meant for her in her career.

Here’s what Sareee had to say!

Edwards: Sareee-ISM Chapter X was special. Not only was it a celebration of your 15th Anniversary, but it managed to celebrate your entire career as well as the past, present, and future of Joshi wrestling. We also got two outstanding musical performances from Hitomi Shimatani. Now that the event has ended and you have had a few days to reflect, how proud are you of the show? What did this show mean to you and your career?

Sareee: “I am glad that the event went well. I was hoping for it to become a complete sell-out, but it couldn’t. However, I am satisfied. I was able to show what I believed in and my 15-year history. Also, the people who came to the event or watched it by PPV seemed happy. I appreciate everyone from the bottom of my heart.”

Edwards: The anniversary match proved to be a moment of resurgence for you after your big losses to both Chihiro Hashimoto and Syuri last year, with you pinning Hashimoto to win the match. SPARK RUSH was working at its highest level ever, and it helped lead to the win. While you’ve had so many battles with Hashimoto, it always has to mean a bit more when you are able to defeat your biggest rival. How’d you feel about your anniversary match? Will we see you face either Hashimoto or Syuri again sometime down the road?

Sareee: “Yes, the main event had all my rivals. The best out of the best of four Joshi pro wrestlers, all in there, same ring. Got together and fought. I think we all share the same belief that pro wrestlers should be strong. Hashimoto even mentioned it at the end of the mic. Being able to win with those members and getting the three-count from Hashimoto was really something. That was important for me. I was happy SPARK RUSH won. And I am glad I won against Hashimoto and got my revenge. I think the level of SPARK RUSH was also elevated from that match. We needed that as SPARK RUSH. We need to go to a higher level as SPARK RUSH.

“Yes, although we will fight in a tag match very soon again, I am always ready to have a singles match against them.”

Edwards: Finally, it’s happening. After your anniversary match, your SPARK RUSH partner, Takumi Iroha, challenged you to a match. And not just any match, but the AAAW Championship will be on the line at Marvelous’ 10th Anniversary show on May 5 at Yokohama BUNTAI. I have talked to you several times about who you have wanted to face since returning to Japan, and you always said Iroha. Now you’ll clash against one another with a prestigious championship on the line! What are your feelings when it comes to facing Iroha, especially after teaming with her as SPARK RUSH over the last year?

Sareee: “We are SPARK RUSH as a tag team, but we are also rivals. If we are going to have a match, I don’t want to lose. If she wasn’t planning to challenge me, I think I would have mentioned it also. It was the correct timing. I wanted to see who is stronger now if we had a match. It has been seven years since we had our last singles, and many things have changed. Even in a tag team match against each other, it has been two years already. Marvelous will be having their big 10th anniversary, and I also think this is a great time and perfect place to have our match.”

Edwards: You told Tokyo Sports that your 15th Anniversary show was the conclusion of Chapter 3 in your career, and Chapter 4 has now begun! Your main goal is to run the Nippon Budokan for your 20th Anniversary. A remarkable goal, and one I believe you can accomplish! So, two questions — 1. What can fans expect from you the rest of 2026 now that the anniversary is behind us and Chapter 4 is officially here? And 2. What are your other goals in Chapter 4 that can help you achieve the ultimate goal of running the Nippon Budokan five years from now?

Sareee: “My goal for Chapter 4 will be to make myself level up in all categories. Being a better wrestler, but also having more name recognition outside of the pro wrestling industry. All of that should help me increase my chances of doing and succeeding in the 20th anniversary event at the (Nippon) Budokan. The preparation for my road to Budokan has started. I will just have to continue to believe in my pro wrestling and myself, and keep training hard. I would also like to help the younger wrestlers who also want to get stronger, like Chi Chi, Miku (Kanae), and others in the industry. When I have a chance, win back the IWGP Women’s Championship again. Keep challenging and winning against my rivals and make myself ready to accept challenges from new rivals that have yet to come.”

Edwards: Your 15th Anniversary was a celebration of all you’ve accomplished in your career up until this point, but also shows how much you’ve grown through each major chapter of your career. Looking back to 2011 and until now, how proud are you of each chapter of your career — early days, Diana ace, going to WWE, and your return these last few years leading up to the anniversary show — and how important were each of them to make you the wrestler that you are now?

Sareee: “My first chapter was all about my debut until before going to the USA. It started when I was fifteen, not knowing anything. I went through tough training and had a hard time. The rookies had to do chores for the seniors back then as a part of the program. I was the only one, so I had to do chores for many seniors. But I kept going on and didn’t run away because I wanted to get stronger and believed in myself of making it to the top one day. I trained very hard and was desperate to make it. I didn’t give up.

“Chapter 2 was about me during WWE. It was my first time living outside of Japan. Everything was a new challenge. It was a great opportunity, and I felt that only the chosen ones could sign with WWE. Its the best and biggest pro wrestling company in the world. So it was a great honor to go there. I was able to learn many things.

“Chapter 3 was about myself returning to Japan. Becoming a freelancer and wanting to do what I believe in to the fullest. That made my mind and body stronger. The experience at WWE was a great plus for me. It made me realize who I was and what I wanted to do when I returned to Japan. I was able to win the IWGP Women’s belt. I was able to get the Tokyo Sports Award. Even with all those booings, I was able to be strong and just kept going because I believed in myself and the style of pro wrestling. My fans were able to support me through that tough time, too, so I wanted to never give up and keep fighting for the fans and for myself.

“And, from now on, the start of Chapter 4.

“All the chapters have made me into the pro wrestler I am today. All of my history has been important to me. I’m looking forward to the challenges that may come in Chapter 4. But I will continue to believe in my pro wrestling. That will never change!”
