Three female wrestlers have competed in the Royal Rumble. Might Sasha Banks become the fourth?
Banks expressed an interest in doing just that in a video she posted to her Facebook fan page, that was also posted on the WWE YouTube channel.
The upcoming Royal Rumble will be the 30th annual event, and takes place January 29, 2017, from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
"This has to be one of the biggest Rumbles yet," Banks said. "Could I be in the Rumble? You never know. I'm in the Hell in a Cell. I might get myself in this Royal Rumble."
Banks definitely would be the smallest female wrestler ever to be in a Rumble field. Chyna was the first female wrestler in the Rumble, competing in the 1999 and 2000 Rumbles. Beth Phoenix participated in the 2010 Rumble, while Kharma (aka Awesome Kong) was in the 2011 Rumble.
As she mentioned, Banks is preparing to defend her Raw Women's Title against Charlotte in the first ever women's match inside the cell at Hell in a Cell next Sunday in Boston, which is also Banks' hometown. It is one of three matches inside the structure scheduled for the card. In the others, Roman Reigns defends the U.S. Title against Rusev, while Kevin Owens defends the Universal Title against Seth Rollins.
On the video, Banks said she was "excited but nervous" about the match.
"To be honest with you, I don't know what I was thinking, challenging Charlotte in a Hell in a Cell," she said. "I must be crazy. But I am excited. It is in Boston, so go big or go home."
