Saya Kamitani Becomes First Female To Win Tokyo Sports MVP Award
Saya Kamitani has made history, becoming the first female to win the Tokyo Sports MVP award.
Kamitani has held the STARDOM World Of Stardom Championship for all of 2025 and won the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship in September.
In April, Kamitani competed in a Career vs. Career match against Tam Nakano, which is heralded as one of, if not the, best women’s match of the year.
She also had standout matches against AZM, Suzu Suzuki, Natsupoi, and more.
Zack Sabre Jr won the award in 2024.
Saya Kamitani will face Syuri at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 in a double championship match. Kamitani’s NJPW Strong Women’s Title will be on the line while Syuri will be defending the IWGP Women’s Championship.
