Sky had been absent from the AEW ring for over a year, as he hadn't wrestled since July 2022. He lost the TNT Championship to Wardlow on the July 6 episode of AEW Dynamite, and he missed several months with a leg injury. Sky was reportedly cleared as far back as the end of 2022.

He returned to action on the July 8 episode of AEW Collision, where he defeated Action Andretti in a singles match. The former TNT Champion's return was teased in a vignette on the premiere of AEW Collision on June 17.

As of this writing, there is no word on how long Sky will be sidelined. Fightful will provide more information as it becomes available.
