Scott D'Amore Details How IMPACT Wrestling Came To Sign Kiera Hogan And Tasha Steelz

Scott D'Amore tells the story of how he and IMPACT Wrestling signed Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz.

Speaking with the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, the Co-Executive Vice President of IMPACT explained how both women were brought to his attention, albeit in very different ways. Kiera Hogan, who was signed by the company in late 2017, caught D'Amore's attention while he was scouting someone else. He said the following:

Kings Of The Black Throne Advance To AEW Full Gear After Win Over FTR On AEW Dynamite

“I won’t say the name, but it was actually -- it’s funny, there was a different talent who sent me a match of theirs that they were looking for an opportunity, and their opponent in that match was Kiera Hogan. I was watching that and I was like, ‘Damn! The opponent is really one -- Kiera is the one. There’s something there.' She was so young and so inexperienced, but you’ve seen her blossom with time.”

As for Hogan's Fire 'N Flava tag team partner, Tasha Steelz, D'Amore says he couldn't believe she wasn't signed. Upon learning that she was a free agent, he was ready to draw up a contract on the spot. Here is what happened:

“Tasha has been overlooked for far too long. There was one of those moments where she was at one of our shows visiting and I turned and looked at Gail [Kim] and I was like, ‘Why isn’t she somewhere? She’s so good. She’s so good in the ring and she’s so good personality-wise. Why isn’t she on TV?’ I actually, when she was there, I assumed she was signed somewhere else just coming to say hello and Gail’s like, ‘No, she’s looking for work.’ I was like, ‘Well dammit, let’s sketch out a contract on a napkin and let’s sign her [laughs].’”

Steelz signed with IMPACT in May of 2020 and quickly formed an alliance with Kiera Hogan. At IMPACT Hard To Kill, Hogan and Steelz defeated Havok and Nevaeh to become the new Knockouts Tag Team Champions. They will defend their belts at Rebellion against Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering.

Fightful will have live coverage of Rebellion on Sunday, April 25 beginning at 5 p.m. PST. Also, be sure to visit our YouTube Channel at the conclusion of the event for a post-show review podcast.
