Scott D’Amore Reveals IMPACT’s Rebrand To TNA Was Supposed To Start At Slammiversary 2023, Says It Was Going To Be A Surprise

Scott D’Amore reveals the original plans for the TNA rebrand announcement.

It was at the conclusion of IMPACT Wrestling’s 2023 Bound For Glory pay-per-view that it was announced that the promotion’s branding would revert to TNA Wrestling in the new year.

Former TNA President Scott D’Amore appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show and revealed that the rebrand was supposed to start at Slammiversary 2023 in July of that year. He said it was going to be completely unannounced, but it did not happen because they did not have the funds to properly pull off what they were looking to do.

“2023 was supposed to be the year for TNA. It was originally — we had everything set for TNA to return at Slammiversary 2023.” D’Amore was asked to clarify if he means the name and the brand of TNA, and he replied, “Yes. It was gonna return completely unannounced. You were going to watch the pre-show and you’re gonna be watching IMPACT Wrestling’s Slammiversary, and then the cold open was gonna be the reveal that it’s gonna be TNA, and while the cold open was playing, the crew would be changing over the skirts and everything else and we come out of that cold open, the entire arena would be built as TNA.” D’Amore was asked why that didn’t happen, and he said, “Because we couldn’t properly fund it to execute that, and then it was like, ‘Okay, let’s not screw this up.’ So that’s when we went back and kind of thought, ‘Okay, how else can we do it?’ And that’s when we came up with the idea of announcing it at the end of Bound For Glory.”

D’Amore was informed he was being let go from his role as President of TNA in early 2024. D’Amore is now running the Maple Leaf Pro promotion in Canada.
