Scott D’Amore Reveals The Brain Trust Behind MLP Wrestling

Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling is set to hold its biggest event of the year when they put on MLP Northern Rising from Maple Leaf Gardens on Saturday, October 3.

MLP was started by Scott D’Amore in August 2024 after he was fired by TNA Wrestling. In his two years running the company, he’s landed a TV deal with TSN2, a streaming deal with MyAEW, and a major appearance by Adam Copeland.

While D’Amore is the face of the company as an executive, he’s not alone in putting shows together or finding talent.

Speaking to Joel Pearl of Fightful and WORKING, D’Amore was asked who else is behind the brain trust of MLP.

“I try to be open to anything. Josh Alexander is one of the guys I went to because he had his finger on the pulse of Canadian wrestling. It’s a mix of people. Jeff Cavanaugh, getting his input. It’s different people in the industry. George Iceman, talking to him. Santino: ‘Who do you see?’ Holly Lengyel and Matt McAusland are driving around to all these shows. They are names people don’t know, but they are at Ontario indie shows every weekend, and they know who is out there. Guys like Jamie Grier, who is a wrestling historian, who is like, ‘There is this person out west. There is this person here.’ We don’t have any organized scout team assigned to different areas reporting in, that would be great, it’s literally just word of mouth and a lot of it is social media because every wrestler is not just a wrestler, they are their own content creation studio. They are putting out that content to promote their brand, which is themselves. We certainly catch people from there, or somebody is leaving a different company: ‘Hey, check this person out.’ A lot of word of mouth,” he said.

Elsewhere during the interview, D’Amore praised Copeland for his contributions to MLP. You can find his full comments here.

Fans can purchase MLP Northern Rising on PPV or MyAEW.
