SCRYPTS: Reggie Was A Part Of Me, But This Character Is A Lot Closer To Home

SCRYPTS is his current character is closer to his real life than anything he has done before.

Reggie previously had a prominent run on the main roster, and he was later repackaged as SCRYPTS in NXT. SCRYPTS has aligned with Lucien Price and Bronco Nima to form OTM, and the act has tapped into his real life, as the former Reggie has talked about how he was in a gang when he was younger.

Speaking on The Hall of Fame with Booker T and Brad Gilmore, SCRYPTS opened up about his difficult upbringing. He noted that his current character is much closer to home than the persona he had during his days as Reggie.

“There was no cure, no medicine for me following in the footsteps of my brothers and my uncles and many, many guys in the neighborhood. People see me in OTM right now, and they say, man, how we supposed to take Reggie serious? He was a sommelier doing backflips and now he hood, now he gangster? We ain’t buying this. I’m like [laughs], y’all don’t really know that what I’m doing right now, this SCRYPTS character, this is a lot closer to home than anything I’ve done before. That Reggie character, the sommelier, French and acrobatic and all that, that’s a part of me, but born and raised, St. Louis, this SCRYPTS character, it’s pretty close to home," SCRYPTS said.

SCRYPTS previously looked back on the original idea for his character and recalled not having the right gear. Check out his comments here.
