In the main event of AEW Dynamite, the SoCal Uncensored duo of Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian became the first-ever AEW Tag Team Champions, defeating The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix) in the finals of the AEW Tag Team Title Tournament. SCU picked up the victory after Scorpio Sky locked Pentagon in a small package.

Christopher Daniels was originally scheduled to represent SCU in the tournament, but he was taken out prior to SCU's first-round bout against The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent) by The Lucha Bros. SCU defeated The Best Friends and The Dark Order (Stu Grayson & Evil Uno) in the tournament before knocking off The Lucha Bros to win the titles.
The Rock N Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) were scheduled to present the new champions with the titles, but they were assaulted earlier in the show by Proud N Powerful (Santana & Ortiz)
