Seth Rollins Responds To Chris Fowler Mispronouncing John Cena’s Name In ESPN Ad Read

WWE heads to ESPN for its first premium live event on the platform with WWE Wrestlepalooza on September 20th. During Monday Night Football, announcer Chris Fowler did an ad read, promoting the event and John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar.

Fowler pronounced Cena as “Say Nah” on two occasions.

Appearing on the SI Media podcast with Jimmy Traina, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins was informed on the flub and he responded, “John Cena, you can’t mess that one up. He’s only one of the biggest movie stars in the world.”

Fowler was seemingly under the weather on Monday night.

Offering further insight on the WWE-ESPN partnership, Rollins said, “I grew up watching SportsCenter. (Rich) Eisen and Stuart Scott and all these guys. They’re like the voices of my childhood. I would watch the 30-minute replay of SportsCenter on repeat before school. I think it’s super cool to be part of the ESPN family and to help launch this new app and era of ESPN. I also think being associated with a huge sports franchise like this really helps legitimize our art form and give it some credence. We’ve done such a great job as a company of explaining to people who don’t know what we do, what we do. You see the Unreal show on Netflix. Being on Netflix in general is a huge step for us. This is another step in really pushing what we do to the mainstream and showing how incredible our talent is as storytellers and athletes.”

Rollins is set to team with Becky Lynch against CM Punk & AJ Lee at Wrestlepalooza.

Elsewhere during the interview, Rollins commented on pulling of the “Ruse of the Century.” You can find his full comments here.
