Several WWE Stars And Legends Comment On Brand Split: Edge, Christian, Dean Ambrose, Jim Ross, Paul Heyman

It's officially WWE Draft day, and several stars and legends have commented on the big event. Former World Champions Edge & Christian, current WWE Champion Dean Ambrose, and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross all spoke out about the big day, and each have their own unique perspectives on the draft. We've also added comments from Charlotte, Fandango and Paul Heyman.

Edge (to 120 sports):

"I would like them to be two entirely separate shows. Open up a Cruiserweight Division. You’ve done the CWC with NXT and on the WWE Network. Have a Cruiserweight Division. Put the women on one brand. The tag division… have that be a focus. Then put your bigger stars on RAW. Filter in a few big stars on Smackdown just to make sure people tune in and watch but… give people an opportunity. I think people want to see something different. Make them two different shows. RAW is three hours. That’s a long time to sit down and watch wrestling. Make them different.

Christian (to 120 sports):

"Give them fresh matches that they haven’t seen. A lot of times with WWE being live every single week a lot of the times you get the same matchups and that sort of thing. I just want new, fresh matchups that we haven’t seen. I think the brand split will help that a little bit. It will also give guys that need a little bit of extra air time. Maybe they were not being utilized up to their full capabilities. It will give them a chance to step up and to prove themselves."

Dean Ambrose (98.5 Sports Hub):

"That will create an exciting environment. It will lead to people thinking outside the box and getting creative, and working hard to create the product. It's fun for us, and the fans win too."

Jim Ross (JR's BBQ):

"WWE will hold their Draft Tuesday night on the first live broadcast of Smackdown Live on the USA Network and there's already predictable, second guessing from many after they read the rules and the Draft format. This is simply the way of the world on many things especially considering that there is so much info online available for fans to digest and then to regurgitate said info with their own assumptions."

Charlotte (The Wrap):

“I really don’t have a preference because I truly believe both brands will have to elevate their game to be the top show. If I’m on ‘Smackdown’ I want to be better than ‘Raw.’ If I’m on ‘Raw’ I want to be better than ‘Smackdown.’ And there’s going to be six people from NXT, and people we maybe haven’t seen in a while are going to have more opportunities, so it’s going to exciting all around.”

Paul Heyman (Tag Rope):

"I know Vince McMahon wants real competition between the two brands like he had in 2002 because Vince McMahon thrives on the very notion of competition in his life. Vince McMahon's left hand competes with Vince McMahon's right hand."

Fandango (Press Herald):

"There's a positive vibe in the locker room because it's a change that's creating more room and slots and TV time for guys who aren't really getting it. Tyler and I are really excited to see where we fall."
