Shane McMahon has gone on and "fired" Kevin Owens.
After the main event of the September 10 episode of SmackDown Live, a visibly angry McMahon gave Owens the pink slip. This came after McMahon tapped to Chad Gable in the King of the Ring semifinals with Owens acting as the special guest referee for the match. Owens was made the special guest referee as McMahon inserted himself into the match to replace the injured Elias.
Regardless of the match's result and how McMahon felt, Gable does advance to the King of the Ring finals where he will take on Baron Corbin. The King of the Ring finals will take place at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view on September 15. Fightful will have live coverage of Clash of Champions.
