Shawn Michaels On Becky Lynch's Run In NXT: She Came Down And Made Sure She Wanted To Lift Up All The Women

Shawn Michaels gives Becky Lynch credit for her NXT Women's Championship reign.

On the September 12th edition of NXT, Becky Lynch challenged then NXT Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton in a bout for the championship. In a surprise for many, Lynch would capture the victory over Stratton, winning the championship for the first time in her WWE career. Becky would also retain the championship in her first title defense at No Mercy, once again defeating Stratton, this time in an Extreme Rules match.

Lynch would hold the title until NXT Halloween Havoc night one, where she would lose the championship to fellow Irish women's star Lyra Vakyria. This ended Lynch's reign at just 42 days.

While speaking on the NXT Deadline Media Call on Thursday, Shawn Michaels discussed Lynch's time back in NXT this year. Shawn would note that Lynch did not shy away from helping the talent in NXT anyway she could.

“The biggest thing, it’s her serpent like nature that she brought. Becky Lynch is a huge star, she’s a WWE superstar through and through. She came down to NXT and made sure she wanted to lift up all the women, and NXT as a whole, down there. For me, the humility in which she went about doing that was just off the charts and that’s what I appreciated so much about her doing it. At no time, did Becky carry herself in any other way other than a humble, unbelievably professional, class young lady. She did a great deal for us and it was good from a ratings standpoint. It was great professionally, just to get to work with. It was great creatively for us. Also, she did everything that she could to lift up our women’s division and to also continue to work with a number of the young ladies. She never once didn’t have time, whether it was getting in there physically or helping them verbally. That’s something that — again, people don’t have to do that, they choose to do that. The way she went about doing that was incredibly respectful to me.”

Lynch is now back on Monday Night RAW, where it appears she is beginning a storyline with Nia Jax.

Elsewhere during the media call, Michaels declared NXT is the best two hour wrestling on television. You can read more here.
