Shawn Michaels Praises NXT Women's Ladder Match, Calls Working With No Crowd 'Impressive As Hell'

Shawn Michaels is considered by many to be the innovator of the modern-day Ladder Match in WWE. Now, Shawn Michaels is praising the women of NXT for putting on a compelling ladder match in front of no audience on the April 8th episode of the black and gold brand.

Speaking with Josiah Williams in a live discussion on the NXT Instagram account, Shawn Michaels praised everyone involved for being able to compete in such a physically demanding match as though there were tens of thousands of people in a packed stadium.

“I was so blown away by what those ladies did,” HBK began. “Those matches are so difficult, so physically demanding. The one thing that enables you to do all of that is doing it in front of a live audience, you know, there's so much more energy, passion, aggression, everything. Again, it's very difficult. And I've had so much respect for them going out there and performing as if there were 20, 30, 40,000 people. That's just impressive as hell.”

Ultimately, that match was won by Io Shirai. She has now earned the right to face the new NXT Women's Champion, Charlotte Flair.

Charlotte recently spoke about her desire to represent NXT on all three brands. Learn more at this link.
