Shawn Michaels Weighs In On Julian Edelman's WWE Prospects

WWE is no stranger to taking athletes and bringing them into the wrestling world.

Pat McAfee thrived as a member of the WWE roster, both in the ring and on commentary. Other crossover stars from the world of football include Lawrence Taylor, Rob Gronkowski, and DeAngelo Williams. Former football players turned full-time wrestlers include Roman Reigns, The Rock, Goldberg, and more.

Julian Edelman, a former Super Bowl winning wide receiver for the Patriots, officially retired from the NFL in 2021, and though he now hosts the Games With Names podcast, he asked Shawn Michaels about his wrestling prospects.

"We took a punter, for heaven's sake. You, my friend, are way more athletic than McAfee, and Pat was pretty darn good. You'd be a piece of cake. You'd be a machine. Plus, with your work ethic, it wouldn't be tough," said Michaels.

When asked if he would have to be a heel, Michaels replied, "For sure, that just comes naturally to you. Down here in Florida, coming from New England, you don't have a chance. Doesn't matter where you're actually from. As far as everyone is concerned, you're a New England Patriot and that's it. They'll boo you out of the building no matter where you're at."

Edelman noted that he always enjoyed playing on the road and in the hostile environments.

Recently, Michaels helped train Logan Paul for his WWE Crown Jewel bout against Roman Reigns. You can find Michaels' comments on training Logan by clicking here.
