Shayna Baszler: Asuka Is A Match I've Wanted Since Day One

Over the weekend it was announced Shayna Baszler and Asuka will clash in singles competition on Monday's WWE Raw.

The two women just missed each other in NXT as Baszler was getting started on the brand when Asuka was moved to the main roster.

“When I came in and Asuka was still there and I was kind of sitting and waiting and waiting, waiting, that was the match I wanted from day one,” Baszler told The New York Post. “Who doesn’t want to chase the champ? That unfortunately didn’t happen. Whether it was then or later, it [this match] was going to happen either way. It just shows that both of us and our accomplishments are known enough to the fans that that’s something they want to see now.”

While some may consider this a match to decide the best NXT Women's Champion ever, Baszler said that title already belongs to her.

Baszler is still part of the NXT roster but has made appearances on WWE Raw despite the brands being separate. As far as her appearances on WWE Raw go, Baszler said, “Wherever there’s a body long enough to break in half that’s where I go. It doesn’t matter the letters behind them. If there is something I feel needs to be done there, I’ll go and do what I need to do. Right now I have this. Plan all the way to the end. That’s one of the laws of power. I have this going on and we’ll see what happens when this is done.”

Baszler is not only set to compete on Monday's WWE Raw, she will also be part of the Raw Women's Elimination Chamber this Sunday at WWE Elimination Chamber.

Fightful will have live coverage of WWE Raw beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
