Often times in WWE, Superstars form strong bonds through their time together on the road. Such is the case with Sheamus and Rusev.
Speaking with Sportskeeda, Sheamus discussed Rusev being one of his closest friends and wanting to see him prosper in his career. Most recently, ?The Bulgarian Brute? was featured in a love triangle storyline download WWE Raw brand with Bobby Lashley and Rusev?s real-life wife, Lana.
Sheamus commented on how much that angle ended up resonating with the audience and his own personal disappointment that the angle was dropped.
?When he came back with the whole Lana thing, people were really behind him and then it just kind of dropped off and I'm like, "What happened?" He lost a couple of times to Lashley but he was on fire,? ?The Celtic Warrior? would say. ?The Rusev Day thing was back and running, and they could have done a lot... A lot more could have happened. I don't know what the deal is, he's on RAW but he was on fire, man, the people were loving him. You could tell he was having fun, coming in and kicking Lashley and making Lana's life miserable. He was having a great time! I just don't know what happened with that story, you know? I don't understand it. I just thought Rusev could have definitely gone on a roll after that.?
Rusev has not been seen on WWE television since before the 2020 Royal Rumble event. He was scheduled to compete in the Gauntlet Match at WWE super Showdown but was replaced by Rey Mysterio with conflicting reports that Rusev is nursing an injury and/or he was kept off the event because he has not yet re-signed with WWE.
