Sheamus Says He Fought Hard For WrestleMania Match Against Drew McIntyre

Sheamus and Drew McIntyre feuded to start the year, culminating in a match at WWE Fastlane.

McIntyre would go on to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 37 while Sheamus faced Riddle for the United States Championship.

According to Sheamus, he wanted McIntyre at WrestleMania.

"We really were hoping this was gonna be WrestleMania. That’s where we felt the feud should basically climax, should come to an end at WrestleMania. I fought as hard as I could, we both did, to make that happen, but you do what you can do," Sheamus told BT Sport.

McIntyre added, "If you watch the pre-match video, it was WrestleMania worthy. The story, the real story. We can come back around, there is always next year's WrestleMania. With the fans back, it'll be new again. It certainly was disappointing."

Both McIntyre and Sheamus are on the SummerSlam card as McIntyre will battle Jinder Mahal while Sheamus defends the US Title against Damian Priest.
