Shinsuke Nakamura Says Kushida Joining WWE Is "Huge"

Shinsuke Nakamura discusses Kushida joining WWE.

Back in 2016, Shinsuke Nakamura left NJPW to sign with WWE. Nakamura was one of the biggest stars in NJPW but came to WWE in the pursuit of trying something different and adding to his legacy. Three years later and Kushida is doing the same thing.

Speaking to Scott Fishman, Nakamura discussed Kushida's decision to leave NJPW for WWE.

"Kushida joining NXT is huge for WWE. Experienced wrestlers around the world have options where they wrestle. He chooses WWE/NXT, that's big for us and him."

When asked if he was the catalyst for such a move, Nakamura said, "I don't know. So many options. WWE has history, that's the difference. NJPW, CMLL, have history. We want to wrestle for legacy."

Nakamura and Kushida clashed just once in singles competition in NJPW, way back in 2012 during the NJPW 40th Anniversary Tour. They were on opposite sides of the ring in multiple tag team bouts during their time together in NJPW.

WWE officially announced the signing of former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and former Ace of the division earlier this month. He is expected to make his NXT television debut in the coming weeks.
