After the match, Shota was attacked by a returning Gabe Kidd. Kidd had been sidelined since AEW Dynasty when he suffered an injury. Kidd said that Shota was never part of the Death Riders and that he would take the title whenever he wanted.
This is the first reign as IWGP Global Champion for Shota, and the first championship of his career. It was noted that he had 19 previous title shots before finally capturing gold. Andrade’s reign ends at 42 days. He made zero successful title defenses.
