Sonny Kiss: I Would Like All LGBTQ+ Athletes To Be Pushed All Year And Not Just During Pride Month

Sonny Kiss has been with AEW from the start in 2019, but has yet to find regular work on television. Kiss has teamed and feuded with Joey Janela with the majority of the angle playing out on AEW Dark.

Kiss has also been involved in matches with Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes, but was on the wrong side of the decision both times.

Currently, Kiss is featured in Pride month commercials on television and Kiss hopes that all LGBTQ+ are celebrated throughout the year and not just for one month.

"I would like to see all LGBTQ+ professional athletes (signed and unsigned) to keep being seen as sellable and pushed into the mainstream outlets all year round and not just during Pride Month," Sonny told Hollywood Life when asked who should get more mainstream recognition.

Kiss has made regular appearances on AEW Dark, but hasn't wrestled on Dynamite or Rampage since a 26 second loss to Omega in October 2020.

In the article, Kiss picked "must-have for any Pride playlist" which included tracks by Mya, Electrik Red, and Kynady Lee.

When asked about the vibe of Pride 2022, Kiss said, "I think the overall vibe and attitude this year is – let’s just keep doing what needs to be done, and that’s delivering the message of what PRIDE truly is and means. Many people think it’s some sort of contest or a way to throw our identities/sexuality in people’s faces. We have PRIDE to celebrate triumphs, to educate people, to explore more about ourselves and others who may have had a similar journey – it’s a beautiful time of year."

After Joey Janela left AEW earlier this year, Kiss wondered what was next. You can find Sonny's comments by clicking here.
