Sonya Deville Says Acting Was Her First Passion

Working for WWE allows Sonya Deville to live out two of her dreams.

After nearly five months off of TV, Sonya Deville re-emerged as a backstage authority figure working alongside Adam Pearce in January 2021. Most recently, she has been featured prominently on SmackDown where she has been feuding with Naomi.

Appearing on Claibs Online, Sonya reveals that she enjoys the role she is in, noting that acting was her first passion in life.

"I started acting lessons when I was like 12. My first passion was acting. I got into MMA when I was 16 and those were two of my dreams. When I found WWE, it was like, 'wait a second, both of these dreams and passions exist in one world called sports entertainment?' I didn't know that was an option until I found it and that's why I fell so head over heels in love with WWE because it was my two passions that culminated into one industry," she said.

Furthermore, Deville believes that she thrives in roles that are "heavy on the performing side," also admitting that she has continued on with her acting lessons.

"I'm a very well-rounded sports entertainer. Where I can thrive is where I have that extra added experience in the performing aspect. I put in the extra work while with WWE. I have continued my acting lessons with my coach Sean Whalen. I do put the extra work in and that makes a big difference, a noticeable difference. I think I thrive in roles that are heavy on the performing side. I like that extra added dimension and added layer to my character. When you're watching, I want you to believe it and feel it and I want you to get into whatever it Is I'm telling you about" Sonya said.

Deville's feud with Naomi continues this Saturday at WWE Elimination Chamber, where she'll team with Charlotte Flair to take on Naomi and Ronda Rousey.
