New year, new Sonya.
After losing a Loser Leaves WWE match at SummerSlam 2020 to Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville returned to WWE television on the January 1 episode of SmackDown. It was stated on commentary that Deville had been reinstated by WWE, but her role was unclear as she walked backstage while other superstars looked on.
On Friday's WWE SmackDown, Deville's role became a little more clear as she met with WWE official Adam Pearce backstage. While speaking to Sonya, Pearce noted that he could use the extra help, but was surprised Deville wanted the job.
Sonya said she wanted to put the past behind her and is grateful and happy for the opportunity to help Pearce, feeling like he needs it.
It's unclear what Sonya's actual role is as it's also unclear as to what Adam Pearce's actual role is. Pearce is a WWE official who acts like a general manager, but hasn't been declared the general manager.
We'll just call Deville the Assistant To The Not General Manager.
