On the taped episode of Raw, Drew McIntyre announced that he intends to main event WrestleMania 35 by winning the Royal Rumble.

McIntyre made his intentions clear in a pre-match promo prior to his triple threat bout against Dolph Ziggler and Finn Balor. McIntyre would go on to lose the bout, but was not involved in the pinfall. However, he was laid out by Ziggler following the match.

On the most recent episode of Raw, it was McIntyre who stood tall, interrupting the singles bout between Ziggler and Balor and causing a disqualification.

McIntyre's last Royal Rumble appearance came in 2013. He entered the match at No. 6 and last two minutes and 40 seconds before being eliminated by Chris Jericho.

The only other name confirmed for the 2019 Royal Rumble is R-Truth. He will enter No. 30 via winning Mixed Match Challenge alongside Carmella, who will enter No. 30 in the Women's Royal Rumble.
