New Intercontinental Champion Crowned On 2/18 WWE SmackDown

A title has changed hands!

On February 18, Sami Zayn challenged Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship. Sami was granted the match two weeks ago by Adam Pearce after he argued that Shinsuke had been "ducking him."

Rick Boogs was not by Nakamura's side for tonight's bout after being electro-shocked by Sami's microphone during his appearance on In-Zayn last week. Sami controlled the majority of tonight's bout, specifically targeting Nakamura's left knee. He would eventually pick up the win after kicking Shinsuke's knee and rolling him up.

This is Sami's third reign with the Intercontinental Championship. He hasn't held a title since losing the Intercontinental Championship on December 22, 2020, to Big E. He ends Nakamura's time with the belt at 190 days.
