According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, Matt Riddle will be moving to the blue brand shortly. There was no official date as to when Riddle will move to SmackDown. Johnson notes that there had been talks of moving Riddle to SmackDown since before WrestleMania 36, but those plans were put on hold.

Riddle is set to compete in a cage fight against Timothy Thatcher on Wednesday's NXT. Kurt Angle will serve as the special guest referee for the bout. It has not been confirmed that will be Riddle's last match on the gold brand.

Riddle is a former NXT Tag Team Champion, winning the belts with Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Portland. Unfortunately, Dunne can't travel to America due to the coronavirus pandemic and Riddle became NXT Tag Team Champions with Thatcher. He and Thatcher lost the titles on the May 13 episode of NXT to Imperium when Thatcher walked out on him.

The former UFC fighter previously appeared on SmackDown as part of the battle for brand supremacy leading up to WWE Survivor Series 2019.

Figthful will have live coverage of NXT beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
