At Friday's NXT UK television tapings in Plymouth, the NXT UK Title match for TakeOver: Cardiff was made official.

It was announced at the NXT UK television tapings that Tyler Bate will face WALTER for the NXT UK Championship at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff on Aug. 31.
WALTER has held the NXT UK Championship since Apr. 5 when he defeated Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: New York. Bate was the first-ever NXT UK Champion, winning the NXT UK Title tournament in January 2017 by defeating Dunne in the finals. Bate would lose the title to Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Chicago in May 2017.
