New AEW TNT Champion Crowned On AEW Rampage Holiday Bash

Sammy Guevara and Cody Rhodes faced off for the TNT Championship on AEW's Holiday Bash edition of Rampage.

Cody Rhodes is the new AEW TNT Champion, defeating Sammy Guevara in the main event. The show, which was filmed on Wednesday, December 22, following Dynamite, saw Rhodes win the belt for the third time, pinning Guevara after a pair of Cross Rhodes and a Tiger Driver.

Cody was presented with the title by David Crockett, the son of the late Jim Crockett. Jim Crockett Promotions was a staple at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Sammy won the belt from Miro on the September 29 episode of Dynamite in Rochester, New York. His reign, if we count until the 25th, ended after 87 days.

As previously mentioned, this is Rhodes' third time holding the TNT Championship. He was the inaugural champion, winning the belt at Double or Nothing 2020. He would lose the title later that summer to Mr. Brodie Lee. He would eventually win it back from the Dark Order leader in a Dog Collar match in October but lost it again the next month to Darby Allin at Full Gear.
