Steffanie Newell is returning home.
The Wales native Steffanie Newell, formerly known as "Nixon Newell' will be returning home on June 10th for PROGRESS Wrestling's 'Chapter 71' show. Newell is currently contracted to WWE and she is a part of the NXT brand. Newell was slated for the first Mae Young Classic tournament last summer but due to a torn ACL she would not make her official WWE debut until April of this year. Steffanie Newell will be featured on a future episode of NXT TV as she appeared at the recent NXT TV tapings in May.
Newell is looking to keep the ball rolling with her return to in-ring competition as it was recently announced by PROGRESS that she will be challenging Jinny for the PROGRESS Women's Championship at 'Chapter 71'.
Jinny captured the title last month at 'Chapter 69' where she defeated the first-ever PROGRESS Women's Champion Toni Storm who was eight days away from holding the championship for a full year.
Jinny & Toni Storm's names have been in headlines as of late other than their title exchange because they have been advertised to be competing in a Fatal 4-Way match on day-one of the WWE U.K. Championship tournament on June 18th to determine a #1 contender for Shayna Baszler's NXT Women's Championship and the winner of the #1 contenders match will receive their shot on day-two of the tournament. Their fellow competitors in the bout will be 'Isla Dawn' and Killer Kelly.
