Steph De Lander looks back on her time in WWE and how she came to wrestle under her ‘Persia Pirotta’ ring name with the company.

While De Lander has found herself competing all over the wrestling world, for a brief period she would find herself in WWE, competing on their NXT brand under the name ‘Persia Pirotta’.

While speaking to The Stunner in a new interview, Steph De Lander explained where she got her Persia Pirotta ring name from.

“I did come up with that name. I had, funnily enough, when I was working as a hairdresser in Australia, one of my coworkers had a pet snake called Persia. I love snakes. She told me, and I was like, that’s a cool name. I was like, I’m just going to, I wasn’t even wrestling at the time. I was like, I’m just going to put that in the back pocket for something. So that’s where Persia came from, and then I wanted to just be Persia, and they were like, Vince wants everyone to have two names. I was like, ;Can I just be Persia?’ They were like, no, and I was like, damn it. So I wanted something that rolled off the tongue. My grandpa’s surname is Parotta. So it’s a little ode to my grandpa.”

De Lander was interviewed following winning the ACW Women’s title, a victory you can read more about that here.
