Steph De Lander Talks About The Creative Freedom In ROH
Steph De Lander says she’s excited to be creative in ROH.
Earlier in March, Steph De Lander announced her departure from TNA Wrestling. She would later work some matches for Ring of Honor, although a contract hasn’t been signed between the two parties yet.
Speaking on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, Steph talked about the level of creative freedom she had in different promotions. Steph says she’s excited to be creative with her art in ROH.
“Being able to come into something like Ring of Honor with a bunch of ideas for my matches, gimmick, storyline and whatever else, I’ve only had a few matches there, but I can already see the way that it works. I’m just so excited to get in there and work with a bunch of different people and be able to be creative with my art.”
When asked if things were different in TNA, she said:
“At TNA, I was allowed to be very creative as well. I didn’t wrestle much at TNA. For a majority of the time that I was there, I was injured. So, I was very lucky that even though I was out, I was in a huge major storyline. I had a wedding, so I was able to write my own wedding vows and basically like plan out a whole TV wedding. I did an engagement. We were divorced cuz my husband actually went insane in real life and quit the company. Then I did later. There was actually for me so many moments where I was allowed to be really creative at TNA.”
Later, Steph says TNA was “openly very creative” but then notes that things are not the same in WWE.
“I would say TNA was openly very creative too. I think WWE is a lot stricter with the way that things work, and that’s for good reason. That’s TV. That’s the biggest show on that scale. So I understand why there’s different levels of restraints on things. For me, I was allowed to be creative in TNA. I’m excited to be creative in Ring of Honor. That’s kind of the part of it that I love the most.”
