Stephanie McMahon, one of the heirs to the WWE throne, was interviewed at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Next Gen Summit in Laguna Niguel, California on Wednesday. She addressed many topics, including the company's enormous presence on Social Media and what other businesses can learn from the WWE, but the most interesting tidbit that came out of the interview is that her father Vince McMahon used to receive death threats back in the days of the competing territories.
"He was invading their territories, and getting better television coverage," she said. "He thought he had the better product, and ultimately, he did, and they didn't take to kindly to that. He told me a great story about a threat from a notorious gangster and being in this room, this old hotel, with the dark wooden panel walls and this big oversized man with a very unattractive face. He was threatening my Dad's life and my Dad was willing to stand up to him and all these different people to make his dreams come true."
There appears to be a great untold story out there about Vince McMahon facing down a mafia goon, but for now that's all the info we have to go on.
Stephanie also spoke about her memoir being delayed, and perhaps changing the focus of the book altogether. "I'm personally reassessing. It was originally supposed to be a memoir," she said. "But as the first book from my family, it needed to be so much more. I want to make it bigger and better. I gotta tell my family's story."
