Stephanie Vaquer Reveals Illness She Was Dealing With Stemmed From Bacteria In Her Throat

The illness Vaquer was dealing with is revealed.

On the lead-up to Stephanie Vaquer and IYO SKY’s match at WWE Wrestlepalooza for the then-vacant WWE Women’s World Championship, Vaquer had been dealing with an illness.

In media appearances shortly before and after Vaquer went on to win the title, it was shared by both Vaquer and Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque that she almost missed the event due to an illness. While speaking to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Vaquer revealed that there was bacteria in her throat.

“I was sick for three weeks before my match, but really sick. I had a bacteria in my throat. Something really weird. I couldn’t eat or drink anything for three days. I felt so weak, so bad, but all the WWE medical team helped me and supported me a lot.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Vaquer spoke about being the first Latina to hold the WWE Women’s World Championship.

“Yeah, I’m the first Latina and WWE Women’s World Champion, and I’m so proud. Many people told me, ‘You can’t because you’re a woman. You can’t because you don’t speak English. You can’t because you don’t know WWE.’ Many reasons. But now I say: Nothing is impossible. Nothing. Nothing.”

Next up on the docket for Vaquer is WWE Crown Jewel: Perth, where she’ll clash with WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton to determine the next Women’s Crown Jewel Champion.
