Steve Maclin Comments On Deonna Purrazzo’s Involvement At MLP Northern Rising

Steve Maclin talks about Deonna Purrazzo’s involvement at MLP Northern Rising.

On the show, Steve Maclin faced Adam Copeland. The match saw involvement from wrestlers such as Rhino and Deonna Purrazzo.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Maclin talked about Deonna’s involvement.

“So it’s funny, the first time we’ve ever been on screen together is Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling and it was the scene where I’m getting bailed out of jail by Adam Copeland when I thought it was my wife picking me up and up in Windsor. It’s the first time we’ve ever shared the screen together and then here we are in a match together where we weren’t sure she was gonna be involved. There was different things behind the scenes of who would be involved in this match and we didn’t want to let the crowd think that one thing was gonna happen, but it doesn’t happen and then to be disappointed. But I think we hit the moment the way we needed to.

But I think the door is now open there as well if Beth wanted to get involved with Adam Copeland versus myself and my wife. I think that’s something that would be fun. But just to have my wife a part of this match in this moment and she knew exactly how I felt all day. Again, I’m gonna be chasing that for a very, very long time in my career. It’s bigger than any championship I’ve won and any moment that I’ve had, even BFG last year, to having the moment with my mom, like this trumps that completely and my mom knows that too.

My mom watched the match here. They were watching the dogs with my dad, and my mom goes, ‘That’s my favorite match ever.’ My mom doesn’t watch a lot of wrestling, especially when I’m involved. She’ll watch more of my wife. But for me, she watched it and I think she understood every bit of me being a little kid and playing with my wrestling figures and using the Edge figure as me—like I used him as me growing up. It’s just a full circle moment. Even on the entrance alone, I’m standing there and I left the ring and I’m standing in the corner and fans are flipping me off and cussing me left and right. I’m just sitting there trying to still be in the moment like they are of trying to soak in being there with Adam at that time.”
