Steve Maclin Details Suffering Broken Fibula Ten Weeks Before Adam Copeland Match At MLP Northern Rising
Steve Maclin discusses breaking his leg.
Ten weeks before his match against Adam Copeland at MLP Northern Rising, Steve Maclin suffered a broken fibula.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Maclin talked about his injury.
“It sucked to have two months off where I had two months fully booked of multiple shows each weekend. I was excited going into free agency and then here I am getting a show up in Ontario, up in Windsor area in Canada with NCG. I was wrestling on Isaiah Broner, great talent, great young talent, another name that should be on people’s minds when you’re out there on independents. But I did a move that I’ve done thousands of times and it’s a uranagi backbreaker and my foot rolled completely to the outside. I have the footage on the documentary as well and I instantly knew something was wrong. I felt my leg literally snap one way and then come back the other way. I felt so bad because here I am two days before this being told that I’m working Adam Copeland at Northern Rising. I’m like, ‘Hell yeah, everything is going to plan. Everything’s doing everything it needs to.’ Like I say in the documentary, fate has it where I have to be tested again. It’s one of those moments that you don’t realize is a blessing in disguise at times. That’s how usually injuries are. But at the same time, it let me be a little bit more human again and come back down to earth and know where I’m at and what I need to do. Here I am just no matter what in those ten weeks, I had no other end goal other than getting to Northern Rising with Adam Copeland.”
Continuing on, Maclin talked about taking advantage of the moment and the opportunity he was given by MLP.
“The funny part though is it’s not even an independent. Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling is now a platform Canadian wrestlers that have been trying to branch out and try to get into the States and everybody’s always fighting with those visa issues. But now there’s a platform and an opportunity in Canada with Maple Leaf Pro and Scott D’Amore putting that together. Take advantage of that. I took full advantage of the moment that I was given and opportunity I was given.”
