Steve Maclin Names AJ Styles As His Dream Opponent

Steve Maclin takes pride in being one of the modern faces of TNA Wrestling. Now, he’s revealing that his dream opponent is perhaps the wrestler who is most synonymous with TNA Wrestling.

While Steve Maclin’s era of TNA Wrestling is not as praised as AJ Styles’, he takes pride in being part of the roster that has helped rebuild the reputation of TNA. With TNA and WWE working together, it’s always possible that Maclin could find himself back in WWE or that he could face a WWE Superstar in a TNA wrestling ring.

Speaking with Joey Karni on the Angle Podcast, Maclin revealed that his dream opponent overall is AJ Styles.

“For me, my dream match, I’ve been saying it would be AJ Styles. I’ve wanted to face former TNA people who have been in WWE and done the exact opposite, pretty much, where I was in WWE and then with the TNA, and they did the opposite. Why wouldn’t AJ be on the top of that list? He’s the ‘Phenomenal One.’ He’s AJ Styles. When you talk about TNA Wrestling, you first think of AJ Styles, yeah, and then you have Samoa Joe. It’s funny to me, I said in an interview not too long ago, Kurt Angle, you know of from TNA Wrestling, and it’s crazy to think he transcended both in WWE and in TNA. The fact that he says that he thinks his career in TNA was better still blows my mind, because I see that, but I also don’t see that, because you always think of both. So I would say if I had a dream match, it would be with AJ Styles.”

AJ Styles recently stated that he’s thinking about wrapping up his career soon. Learn more here.

Steve Maclin has not yet been a part of any of the crossovers with NXT. But he’s okay with that. Learn more about that here.
