Theme music is an important aspect of any professional wrestler. Themes tell the story of the wrestler before the wrestler even appears on screen. Whether it's glass shattering, a 'gong,' or even somebody singing their own lyrics, theme songs are essential to a pro wrestler and the character he or she is trying to get over.
That's something that Steve Maclin believes, which is why he took special care in curating his own new theme song.
Maclin recently spoke with Fightful Overbooked's In The Weeds and told Jeremy Lambert and Joel Pearl about how much time and care went into crafting his theme song.
"That’s all me. I worked with Loeden Learn, he just did Josh Alexander’s (theme) when Josh re-debuted as a heel. That piece of crap, quitter. When Josh re-did his music, I was sitting there and thought something was missing on my end as well. Presentation-wise and visually, I didn’t want a song that I know everybody is going to sing to, but I wanted a song that I know people will have stuck in their heads. When you have Rich Swann behind the scenes singing your song or sending voice audio clips of him singing it acoustically and playing it, I think I did something right. It was, ‘How do I get my message across with Front Towards Enemy and Never For The Glory?’ Nothing is going to change with me, it’s always going to be Front Towards The Enemy, I don’t care what the fight is or who the fight is with. If you’re in front of me, sorry, get out of my way.I felt so bad because I was so nitpicky on the voice. I was trying to go for that Alice in Chains grunge sound.
"We were trying so hard to get Rooster and copyrights to it with TNA. I know Tompkins was trying to really work on it for me. ‘Screw it, let’s do it ourselves. Let’s find something new.’ That’s when I kind of went about it myself and figured it out. Here I am, like a psychotic human being in my backyard going through this song, walking through my entrance, ‘here is the spotlight moment. Here is my beauty shot. Here is the corner.’ It took me a while to get it down because the buildings change all the time. I have the 45 to 55 seconds I have to get to the post where it really kicks in and it’s me hitting that beauty shot in the corner, kind of like that Randy Orton pose."
Maclin's entrance is a sight to behold and it's something that absolutely differentiates the TNA International Champion from the rest of the competition.
Maclin is preparing to pariticpate in the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation's T2T Tower Climb on June 1, 2025. The climb, according to the T2T website, is the "only opportunity for the public to ascend 104 stories—or 2,226 steps—from the basement to the finish line on the 102nd floor." The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was designed to tell the story of Stephen Siller.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was designed to tell the story of Stephen Siller.
According to the T2T website, Siller was "A NYC firefighter who was off duty during 9/11, he drove his truck to the entrance of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, strapped his 60lbs of gear on his back and by foot ran through the tunnel to the Twin Towers where he ultimately lost his life.
"Started by his brother Frank, T2T helps support our nations heroes and their families by paying off mortgages and/or providing mortgage-free homes for families of fallen first responders, especially those with young children.
"More recently, T2T has expanded its work and is building smart homes for injured veterans and first responders. They have begun buying properties across the country to build “Veterans Villages” where they will house homeless veterans and provide supportive services to get these heroes back on their feet. Villages are currently being built across the country in places like Atlanta, GA, Bradenton, FL, Memphis, TN, Harrisburg, PA, Detroit, MI, and Las Vegas, NV, just to name a few. "
Maclin, a former Marine, filmed a commercial back in October, professing his support of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
