Sting comments on Darby Allin's successful ascent of Mount Everest.
Darby Allin has been away from AEW programming as he was preparing to and then successfully climbed Mount Everest. When he reached the summit on May 19, he flew the AEW flag atop the mountain, just as he had promised to do.
Before focusing on his climb, Darby Allin played a major role in Sting's retirement tour. The two had been paired together since Sting joined AEW in 2020. They would become AEW World Tag Team Champions and successfully defend those titles in Sting's last match against Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson, the Young Bucks, at AEW Revolution 2024.
During a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, Sting shared his thoughts on Darby's successful climb up the mountain, revealing that he stayed in contact with his protégé the entire time. He even joked that Allin's next goal would be heading to space.
"Well, I mean, I'm not surprised that he made it there and back. Although anything can happen on that mountain, if anyone can do it, Darby Allin is going to pull it off, for sure. He was in contact with me the whole trip. He was up there. He gave me a video of him at the top of the mountain, which I'm not going to say anything about quite yet, but yeah, he didn't have any oxygen on when he gave me that and he showed me a panoramic view from the very top of the world, and it was just like crystal clear. It looked like he was skiing or something. But no, this is way beyond that, obviously. So, what is next for Darby Allin? Who knows, man? Space, the final frontier."
Sting is currently on his farewell tour of appearances. 2025 will be the last time he makes appearances in his signature face paint. Learn more here.
It is unknown when Allin will return to AEW television. He has been off TV since December to prepare for his Everest climb, which began in April.
