Sting talks how he has helped fans with his wrestling character.

Sting’s pro wrestling character has always been one that acts when he sees injustice, whether that be in WCW, WWE, TNA or AEW, ‘The Icon’ was always a moral compass fans could follow, and now after retiring from the ring and winding down his final appearances on the convention circuit, Sting has recognized the impact he has had on fans lives.

While speaking to The Sportster in a new interview, Sting spoke about how he gets told at conventions that he helped people get through times of bullying, something that to this day ‘blows his mind’.

“You know what really hits me is the stories that fans tell about being bullied as a kid and how, somehow or another, I got them through it. The whole vigilante-type character, I think, is what did it. But so many people, you don’t realize, if you’re not bullied, you don’t realize just how many people are bullied, and it’s a real thing. [Both] men and women, so you’ve got grown men and women, my age, even older, younger, in tears, telling me these stories. It blows my mind. It really does.”

Sting retired from the sport of professional wrestling last year at AEW Revolution, where he and Darby Allin defeated The Young Bucks in a tag team title match.

Last month, Sting would comment on Hulk Hogan’s passing. You can read more about that here.
