Circa 1999 Stone Cold Steve Austin Match Worn & Signed Knee Brace with WWE Letter Signed by Linda McMahon. Stone Cold Steve Austin was the driving force behind wrestling’s boom in the late 1990s, helping transform WWE during the Attitude Era. With his anti-authority attitude, Austin connected deeply with fans who embraced his rebellious defiance, especially in his rivalry with Mr. McMahon. His persona-a tough, no-nonsense, beer-drinking brawler who rejected rules-felt authentic and relatable, breaking away from the cartoonish characters of earlier eras. Austin’s intense promos, unpredictable actions, and physical in-ring style made him must-see television and boosted ratings during the Monday Night Wars.
He redefined what a top star could be, proving that charisma and attitude could outweigh traditional hero archetypes. His influence is still seen today in edgier storytelling and more realistic characters. Stone Cold didn’t just succeed-he helped save WWE financially and reshaped the industry’s direction for years to come.
Very few Stone Cold match worn items have reached the open market. His match worn vests have never surfaced which has left collectors scurrying for anything worn by the Rattlesnake. The knee brace which Austin wore in WrestleMania 38 recently realized $58,045 on an auction site. Heritage Auctions realized the top price ever paid for a knee brace when it sold one from $115,900 in May of 2026.
This knee brace is from the early 2000’s when Austin was keeping WWE alive in its fight with WCW for the top wrestling spot. The offered Don Joy knee brace (16″) has a very similar wear pattern like the previous one we offered in May. Various scratches and some paint loss are found on the brace. Three of the four Velcro fasteners are still fully functional. The top button which has broken off which probably ended its in-ring run. Austin signed the top in gold paint pen and dated “5-8-99” nearby. A WWF authentication sticker is placed near the date reference. LOA from WWE. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
