Reacting to the news of the announcement on her Instagram story, Summer Rae, whose real name is Danielle Moinet, revealed that she wasn't supposed to be publicly announced for the match and they were going to keep it a surprise until the event but fortunately for her, plans changed and now she doesn't have to keep it a secret for the rest of the month

“Okay, so obviously I can't sleep. I've been on Twitter and I am so overwhelmed by the amazing response on Twitter by you guys. Oh my gosh, like, we weren't even supposed to announce that I was going to be in the Rumble, it was going to be a surprise and then, I found out a couple of hours ago. So I was really nervous to look on Twitter, because people are mean, like, people just be mean on Twitter and the response — everyone was so nice. You guys have me in my feels. Everyone's so hyped. I don't know, I've just been gone so long that I didn't know what the response would be like, I didn't know if it'd be positive or negative and it's just so good. Thank you so much. All my friends are being so supportive and just the fans like, WrestleTwitter's just insane, and I'm just so excited, and now I'm happy that I don't have to keep this a surprise until the end of the month.”

Summer Rae would also say that she was working her fans in a recent Q&A session when she was asked about a potential appearance with WWE soon.

“In my most recent Q&A, when I said ‘Oh, no, I have so much going on. I wouldn't go back.’ I've known for weeks. Don't sleep on me. I was playing. I was working y'all. It's a work. Life is a work.”

On Twitter, she already began fanning the flames of an old rivalry with Natalya. Summer pretended not to know who Natalya was. They were featured on Total Divas in the past and on the show, their relationship wasn't always so friendly.

Summer will make her Royal Rumble debut on Saturday, January 29. There will be some old scores to settle and some old friends to see as she steps into the 30-Woman Battle Royal for the first time here and you can see the full lineup of competitors announced for the match so far at this link.
