Sonya Deville wanted to give her all in her SummerSlam match with Mandy Rose and prove that no matter what, they belonged in the spotlight.
Originally, the match between Mandy and Sonya at SummerSlam 2020 was supposed to be Hair vs. Hair. However, following the break-in and attempted kidnapping at the home of Sonya Deville, their match was then changed to a “Loser Leaves WWE” match with Sonya taking the loss and potentially permanently ending her wrestling career.
On the most recent episode of “WWE Day Of,” WWE cameras caught up with Deville after her match at SummerSlam where she explained that the goal of the match was always to prove that she and Mandy belonged in a top position in WWE and she feels they accomplished that.
“That's what we went out there to do. That was the entire point of this match and that's what Mandy and I wanted to bring to the table. We wanted to show that we have intensity, that we had the skills that were, you know, not as green as everybody might think. We worked our asses off to get here and of course, we're forever evolving, but we're here and it's our time to take the spotlight.”
