Well, not many saw this one coming. Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Title at Summerslam.
Dolph Ziggler emerged the victor of a six-pack challenge match that headlined Tuesday night's Smackdown Live program. Also involved in the match were former world champions John Cena and AJ Styles, as well as Bray Wyatt and WWE rookies Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin.
Ziggler has appeared in a couple of main event programs over the last couple of years, but has largely been relegated to the mid-card since his 2013 World Heavyweight Title run. At Survivor Series 2014, Ziggler was the sole survivor in an elimination match that toppled The Authority, at least temporarily.
Outside of the 2016 Royal Rumble, this will be Ziggler's first televised world title shot in three years.
Ziggler vs. Ambrose joins Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Title and Randy Orton vs. Brock Lesnar on the Summerslam card. Summerslam takes place on August 21 from the Barclays center in Brooklyn, New York.
