Suzuki-gun are on top of the Super Junior Tag Team Division.
At NJPW Summer Struggle on August 17, the Suzuki-gun duo of Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado defeated the Bullet Club team of El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori to win Super Junior Tag League 2021. The finish saw Phantasmo & Ishimori seemingly on the verge of victory following Sudden Death on Desperado, but it was Kanemaru who was legal.
In the confusion, Kanemaru rolled up Ishimori to secure the win.
With this victory, Kanemaru & Desperado have set up a rematch with Phantasmo & Ishimori for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles.

Phantasmo & Ishimori entered the contest at 4-0 while Kanemaru & Desperado were 3-1. A win for Suzuki-gun tied the two teams in points, but gave them the tie breaker by virtue of their victory. Suzuki-gun lost to Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask earlier in the tournament.
Eagles & Tiger Mask lost to Master Wato & Ryusuke Taguchi in the co-main event, dashing their hopes of winning the tournament.
