WWE and Cody Rhodes are securing some property names.
WWE applied to trademark "WarGames" back on November 19, after purchasing the rights to the name from MLW earlier in the year. WWE had been running WarGames matches without the trademark, as had MLW, though they were able to secure it before the sale. Major League Wrestling used WarGames in both iterations of the company, but now use "War Chamber" instead. WWE is running a WarGames event tonight.
A "Crown Jewel" trademark was also filed on November 19. The trademarks were filed for "G & S: Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information"
Outside of WWE, All Elite Wrestling EVP Cody Rhodes continued to trademark some old WCW properties, including the staples "Slamboree" and "SuperBrawl" on November 9. Both shows served as WCW pay-per-views, but WWE let the trademarks lapse in 2005. Neither were ever used as events by WWE.
AEW announced that Bash At The Beach would return in January for an episode of AEW Dynamite. Cody Rhodes also trademarked that earlier in the year. This week, Cody tweeted "Sound like I'll be going to court soon, time to go suit shopping," leading many to speculate it was in relation to recently filed trademarks
