Swerve Strickland has confirmed a Fightful Select report noting that he had suffered a torn meniscus since 2019.
Following AEW All In 2025, Swerve would undergo surgery on a torn meniscus injury, which Fightful Select had reported was an injury he had been wrestling on since 2019. Strickland would spend several months on the shelf before returning at AEW Full Gear in November of 2025.
While speaking to Hot 97 in a new interview, Swerve Strickland confirmed the report, and that he had wrestled on the injury for over 5 years so he could achieve all that he could in the interim.
“I never had bad injuries. I just had like, I tore my meniscus like 2019. I didn’t get the surgery until 2026. So like, I just wrestled on it for like five years. I was performing. I never stopped. So that was just like something I just dealt with just to like, you know, get all the achievements and stuff. Then I was like, okay, I feel like I can take a break now.”
Swerve recently released a new single. You can read more about that here.
