Swerve Strickland Recalls Telling Oba Femi That He Debut On The Main Roster By Winning The World Title

Swerve Strickland would’ve did things differently for Oba Femi.
Femi has not lost a single match since arriving to the main roster on a full-time basis. Some fans have pushed back on the open challenge series that Femi is currently involved in, saying that he should be booked in an actual feud.
Speaking with the Bootleg Kev Podcast for a new interview, Strickland recalled a time that he met Oba Femi at the gym.
“I met Oba at the gym and I said, ‘If I had the pen, your debut would be winning that belt.’ I was close because his debut was against Cody for the belt. He was like, ‘How did you do this, man?’ I was just like, ‘I call it how I see it. It’s you, bro.’”
Continuing on, Strickland said that perception is everything in wrestling.
“Like I said, perception is everything. Put him in main events. Perception is everything. People will buy it, but they got to see it. Not even with just black wrestlers, same with Bron Breakker. Perception is everything, put them in the main events. People will buy into it the more you do it. They’ll perceive it.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Swerve spoke about Darby Allin’s reign with the AEW World Championship. Check out her full comments by clicking here.
