TAELER: Could We See AEW Women's Tag Team Titles In The Near Future?

As you all have heard me discuss on multiple occasions and to great detail I have been patiently awaiting the full-fledged in ring return of Anna Jay to AEW. And through her return I've also been putting the proverbial pen to paper for Fightful.com in regard to my views on AEW Women's Tag Team Titles potential. As of now the Women's Division has only one title, The AEW Women's World Title currently held by The Doctor herself, Dr. Britt Baker, DMD. In my opinion, as a woman in wrestling, there's a huge missed opportunity here and AEW's Women's Division certainly has the depth, talent, means, and passion to really create something special within a tag team division for the women in AEW and the AEW fans!

The return of Anna Jay is just one more example of the depth and promising future currently residing within the AEW Women's Division. Now, if there's a hold on the plans for women's tag titles because AEW has decided to open that "forbidden door" and let the women crossover between IMPACT Wrestling and AEW or even AEW and NWA then that's a totally different story. By all means utilize the Knockouts Tag Team Titles or the recently reignited NWA Women's Tag Team Titles as a means to push for AEW Women's Tag Team Titles. The talent is there and don't get me started on the potential for Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo taking on the AEW Women's World Champion Britt Baker. AWESOME...

Regardless, both divisions have enough ladies to where the teams could make a lot of sense and make for great T.V for fans and a definite spike in merch sales and character development for the stars involved. The variety of women would allow for practical teams that will not look thrown together but instead with foresight. Not to mention the working relationship AEW now has with NWA who recently reinstated the NWA Women's World Tag Team Titles with the first winners being The Hex, Allysin Kay and Marti Belle. When considering all three Women's Divisions it plays out as a stellar whose who of Women's Wrestling. AEW definitely has a good role to play in that especially with the return of Anna Jay and her rejoining Tay Conti.

I could see this being a really fun intricate game of chess if you will. Full of finesse and creative ingenuity. As well as long term planning. Start with preexisting titles and use them as a jumping point for the proof of concept. So many good teams are already present on the rosters. Breaking it down would be quite easy. I would personally suggest on the AEW front: Anna Jay and Tay Conti. Big Swole and Nicole Savoy. Penelope Ford and Allie. Thunder Rosa and Diamante. Rebel and Jamie Hayter I have a good storyline idea for them. Britt Baker possibly reuniting with her former Shimmer tag team partner Chelsea Green who also won The NWA Tournament at NWA Empowerrr. Riho and Maki Itoh. Keep Red Velvet and KiLynn King who made it to the finals in the NWA Tag Team Tournament or possibly pair Red Velvet with Kiera Hogan. I think that would be exciting to see. Lots of fire and attitude and fun in ring possibilities with their styles.

I would be interested to see the team of NWA Women's Champion Kamille Brickhouse teaming up with her NWA Empowerrr opponent Leyla Hirsch or even Kamille with Jade Cargill. Add The Hex Allysin Kay and Marti Belle. Knockouts Tag Team Champions Decay's Rosemary and Havok. Rachael Ellering and Jordynne Grace. Tenille Dashwood and Madison Rayne. Perhaps Taylor Wilde and former NWA Women's Champion Serena Deeb. Plus you still have Ruby Soho, Hikaru Shida, Nyla Rose, Julia Hart, Emi Sakura, and even the team of Renee Michelle and Sahara who competed very well at NWA Empowerrr, Santana Garrett, Lady Frost...the list goes on. So much talent that I couldn't even begin to list them in one piece. In my opinion, this would be the perfect way to eventually introduce AEW Women's Tag Team Titles and I think the first winners should undoubtedly be Dark Order's Anna Jay and Tay Conti. It's about time and they'll be the gold standard and precedent set. Here's to hoping we see this happen sooner than later! I'm all for it!
