Taeler Hendrix Looks At WWE Summerslam 2020: Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton

ht - Summerslam 2020 will be headlined by Drew McIntyre defending his WWE Championship against Randy Orton. The Viper challenges for The Claymore's title! Many feuds in the WWE will be clashing together like titans. This year's Summerslam PPV is gaining steam with some major media outlets including Forbes, CBS Sports, Bleacher Report, Medium, and more! The history behind Summerslam is as epic as it is lengthy. Spanning several decades, Summerslam is arguably one of the most looked forward to PPV's produced by the WWE. Not so far behind The Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and ofcourse the Zeus of all the PPV's - Wrestlemania!

Randy Orton alone has made an estimated 14 separate appearances on the WWE's annual Summerslam PPV. The first ever Summerslam took place in 1988 in the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York before I was born. My mother remembers the hype surrounding the first Summerslam as the WWE formerly back then the WWF pitted themselves against Jim Crockett Promotions (later sold to Ted Turner) World Championship Wrestling. The PPV headlined Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage with Miss Elizabeth Vs. Ted DeBiase and Andre The Giant -- INCREDIBLE! Names like Gorilla Monsoon, Jesse The Body Ventura, Superstar Billy Graham, Howard Finkel, The British Bulldogs, Rick Rude, The Ultimate Warrior, and so many more. What an event! Fast forward to 2020, and Summerslam with be produced behind closed doors due to Covid 19. This will be the first time in over 30 years that the PPV will be filmed in such a way.

TNA X-Division #1 Contender Match, TNA Knockouts World Title Match, More Set For 5/2 TNA iMPACT!

Tonight will be the 33rd Summerslam in the history of Summerslam. No pressure! Heading into tonight's Main Event, Drew McIntyre will be putting his 137 day reign as WWE Champion on the line again The Viper Randy Orton. Drew McIntyre won the WWE Championship after a long hard fought feud with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 36, who until that night had retained the WWE Championship for 184 days dating back to October 2019. Challenging McIntyre is a name that's certainly no stranger to the WWE Universe. Randy Orton alone has held the WWE Championship 9 times and looking to make tonight the beginning of his 10th reign.

Both men are veterans of the WWE experience with longevity in the Pro Wrestling Industry. The audience is somewhat split in favor of Drew McIntyre retaining the WWE Championship against Randy Orton. Die hard haters of The Viper are waiting for him to retire. Regardless of sentiments, both men have proved themselves worthy adversaries in the WWE. Drew McIntyre being a Former Intercontinental Champion, and 2x Raw Tag Team Champion looks to further his reign as WWE Champion after he's had to chop heads to get to the top, not unlike his monacre The Claymore. The Viper Randy Orton has single-handedly been a Former United States Champion, 4x World Heavyweight Champion, and more.

This year's Summerslam will have a lot to live up to. The PPV will feature 6 title matches as well as several grudge matches to christen the brand new WWE ThunderDome at the Amway Center in Orlando! Set for in-ring action are Sasha Banks, Asuka, The Fiend, Bayley, Seth Rollins, Braun Stroman, Street Profits, and more! Street Fight Match, a Falls Count Anywhere Match, 2 Womens Title Matches, a No DQ Match! All tonight! Don't miss the biggest WWE PPV of the Summer - the 33rd Summerslam live from The ThunderDome!
