This past episode of IMPACT Wrestling on AXS T.V., had several key matches leading up to their first major PPV of 2021 - Hard To Kill. Several Knockouts were seen in action. All aiming to build momentum heading into Hard To Kill. One such bout was The Crown Jewel Kimber Lee versus Wera Loca Taya Valkyrie. Both ladies had their Tag partners in tow. A touchy relationship amongst these Knockouts effectively sees the boiling over into 2021 from 2020 events that were left simmering on the proverbial stove for too long. And now on fire in the new year.
Kimber Lee taking on Taya Valkyrie served several excellent purposes. All favoring the current Knockouts Champion The Virtuosa Deonna Purrazzo. One being a way for Kimber Lee to ensure some weakness in Taya competing in such short proximity to the upcoming PPV. Less than week separating this match from the PPV. With Taya Valkyrie being the competitor challenging for Deonna Purrazzo's coveted IMPACT Knockouts Championship Title. The second being to essentially beat Taya mentally and psychologically. In essence beating Taya before she ever sets foot at Hard To Kill. The third being payback. To build momentum for herself since Kimber Lee was the Knockout pinned by Ragnarok (Taya & Rosemary.) Thus eliminating Lee and Purrazzo from the IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament. The loss that ultimately led to Purrazzo and Lee intervening in Ragnarok versus The Killer Death Machines and advancing the undefeated KDM's.
However, the loss served up to Taya Valkyrie on this episode while not exactly clean, was definitely far more personal than the prior loss. Although, it was a textbook pin perfectly executed by Kimber Lee. The loss between the two this past episode came about after an interference by The Knockouts Champion. An interference through distraction as Purrazzo and Susan a.k.a Su Yung a.k.a Susie held Rosemary at bay. At first missed by Valkyrie, in a down moment after gaining the advantage over Lee, Valkyrie saw the double team on her Ragnarok tag partner on the outside. That moment of distraction was all it took to put the former Knockouts Champion in jeopardy and pinned by The Crown Jewel herself for the one - two - three…
As the episode unfolded, it was clear the loss didn't sit well at all with Valkyrie. Distracted. Pissed off. Chip on her shoulder. Disrespected. Rosemary who was held back and attacked would also be in action that night against Tenille Dashwood. Rosemary would instead have a resurrection of her former Decay-mate Crazy Steve. Crazy Steve back at IMPACT would accompany Rosemary at ringside as her own insurance policy. Talking some sense into Taya Valkyrie, Rosemary made it clear that Valkyrie's primary focus should be preparing for her Championship match against The Virtuousa Deonna Purrazzo at Hard To Kill. A Champion whose proved she isn't above a skillfully spun long con game plan to further hold onto the Knockouts title. All aiming to supplant herself as the new longest reigning Knockouts Champion. An accomplishment that still at this time belongs to Taya Valkyrie.
Hard To Kill sets the stage for two extremely accomplished and formidable Knockouts going head to head against the other. One to retain the prestigious title. The other to reclaim and sit upon the pinnacle seat. The Virtuosa versus Wera Loca. The IMPACT Wrestling's 2020 Wrestler of the Year versus the longest reigning Knockouts Champion and 3x Reina De Reinas Champion. A test of wills. Mental toughness. A tit for tat exchange. A heated game of chess. A physical example of ambition. Who will prove to be too hard to kill in the championship bout…? Tune in January 16th for IMPACT Wrestling's Hard To Kill PPV. New Knockouts Tag Team Titles have been unveiled as Knockouts Tag Team Champions will be crowned. The Knockouts Championship Title will be on the line and so much more!
